I'm loving the new Deadmau5 album. A big departure from his last effort, but still excellent. Just saw them at HARDfest, and my high expectations were more than met.

This is exactly how I felt about it when I first got his cover CD for Mixmag about 2 years ago. I asked myself - "what's the matter with me? Am I listening to trance?" I comforted myself with calling it tech-house, to make it seem less... euphoric.

one of my roommates from freshman year apparently used to hang out with him 4 years ago, when he first started making electronic music. now, i love me some deadmau5, but for the whole fucking year, all i heard was how much this kid loved all of his shit and how much he used to hang out with him, etc etc. then late in the year, we went to his show and my roommate approached him. "hey, its xxx, remember xxx..." and he just sort of stares at him. "yea, what do you want?" the kid looked like he was going to cry. i was laughing hysterically. anyway, now whenever he comes to town, my ex-roommate refuses to go, and of course he thinks the new album is shit. so not really a deadmau5 story, but one about my douche of an ex-roommate.

I didn't know who Deadmau5 was until last Halloween so I guess I'm coming up on my one year anniversary of DM5 love. I love Ghosts N Stuff and when I played it for my hipster friends they said they always knew I'd end up overloading on electro and become a raver. Thats not a great story but um just thought Id share the love.

I have a Deadmau5 personal experience story. I saw him in august this year at Ramshead Live in Baltimore, MD . My first time at that venue really nice place, three stories, nice acoustics, and of course really excited to see Deadmau5 (first time). But he was looking all hung over and just not really into the show. It was probably 100 degrees in this place and he was shivering and had to put on his heavy leather jacket. It really must have been a bad night for him though because besides the fact he was looking all sick or whatever he also broke his mixer/tables that he was playing. He brought out a second computer and wrote a note that said "playing with broken shit, fuck". After he was done playing he just destroyed his mixer, threw it right into the ground gave it a nice stomp, some office space shit. Anyways, for the personal experience I went to go give him some dap, since ya know it's Deadmau5 c'mon. Me and my friend went towards where he was going to exit (where some fine ass honeys were too), so I give him five and I'm like, "good show man" he looks me straight in the eyes with the dead stare and says, "I'm going to puke my fucking brains out." So my friend I start laughing and some chicks behind us are like, "ewwww." Then he just calmly walks away to I guess puke his brains out. I thought it was a pretty sweet show, even though he was all fucked up, he dropped "maur ghosts and whatever" that was the first time I heard that mix, pretty awesome. Everyone else talked all this shit like oh he wasn't into it, but whatever all his mixes were clean, though all his tracks are like 128 bpm and flow really nice in sets, he rocks.

Maybe not worthing winning the album. But I'll share anyways. I'm a massive Deadmau5 fan, and Strobe has lifted him to an almost impossibly higher notch in my books. Was in Ibiza last week taking a "night off" at a smaller club and the DJ dropped Not Exactly. I was beeming with national pride and asked an english guy if he knew who produced the track. He said "yeah, Deadmau5". I asked if he knew where he was from to which he replied "London". I'm not a scrapper, but I nearly punched him in the mouth.
