MSTRKRFT and John Legend

With a Knack for the Peculiar

I don’t usually enjoy covering the artists who most certainly don’t need any more coverage than they already have, but I must admit, certain situations beg for special treatment. I’m sure we all know by now how remixes involving our coveted Canadian duo, MSTRKRFT, go, yes? See, they were always phenomenal, but as of late, there’s been a trend toward more the unusual, which has resulted in a library of tracks that are, at the very least, genre bending.

Let’s think back. We were all shocked (and likely a little worried) when we first saw a pending Usher remix listed on JFK’s myspace. The only concern left after release, however, was for that of Usher’s career, due to the fact that his beats are (pardon my language) one hundred percent more tolerable when hidden behind a hockey mask.

A few months later, the same thing happened all over again when gossip caught hold of a potential Jesse McCartney remix. Now, you’d think that, after the Usher remix, the release cycle of this next tune would be a bit smoother, but for some strange reason, the doubt was still there. Needless to say, we all looked like idiots once again when the track dropped.

So today, we are once more presented with a strange and unexpected release, wherein you have two options:

1. Sign on to whatever forum it is that you use to anonymously trash talk artists and start writing comments about how “MSTRKRFT is screwing up everything they have going for them”, all the while proclaiming your “love” to them with your fist in the air at live shows.

2. Give John Legend a chance, accept MSTRKRFT as your savior, grab your 1200’s, and go make people bounce.

Whatever… er… makes you happy.

any chance of you posting the original? msktrthrk is okay, or whatever, but its a little too techno of a remix for me considering its an r and b song.
